Pattaya Safety Standards

Building safety standards in Pattaya are somewhat lacking. There are many places that would be closed down if they tried to operate in the west. Some gogo bars only have one entrance making a bit of a fire trap. Surely Thailand has building safety codes but I don’t know how strict they are.

Lucifer Disco is one place that does have a fire exit at the rear of the establishment. It is however,  a little small for the size of the place. It is just a shame that the staff have not been educated about why it is there. On the night this photograph was taken the staff had blocked the exit with drums into which empty bottles where being placed. The good thing with Lucifer is that if there is a problem the back windows can easily be made into make-shift fire exits with the use of a near-by chair.
